RF838-K(D) Helps Achieve Efficient Light Shade Dyeing for Knitted Fabrics

In the dyeing of light-colored fabrics, bleaching is one of the key factors that determines the final color quality. Natural cotton fibers contain yellowish-brown pigments and natural impurities. If the fabric is dyed directly without bleaching, these background colors will create a "color overlay" effect with light-colored dyes, resulting in yellowish shades and inaccurate color tones. Therefore, a bleaching process is required to completely remove the natural background color of the fibers and improve fabric whiteness, providing a clean white base for light-colored dyes and ensuring bright colors with consistent shade from batch to batch.

Conventional bleaching processes rely on high concentrations of caustic soda, hydrogen peroxide, and stabilizers to achieve the required whiteness through an intensive reaction at 98°C for 30 minutes. However, this treatment method also has several disadvantages. First, it can damage the fibers. Under high-temperature and strong alkaline conditions, cotton fiber structures may be damaged, leading to cellulose degradation and reduced fiber strength, which may result in fabric weight loss or even fabric holes. Second, it may reduce fabric quality. After fiber damage occurs, the fabric surface often loses its natural resilience and becomes rough, requiring additional finishing treatments to restore the fabric handfeel. In addition, it increases environmental pressure. The high consumption of caustic soda and oxidizing agents produces wastewater with high alkalinity and high COD, resulting in higher operating costs for neutralization and wastewater treatment.

To address these issues, BBT has developed Bio-Scouring enzyme RF838-K(D). During the pre-treatment process, the RF838-K(D) process significantly simplifies the conventional workflow. After adding RF838-K(D) to cold water, the temperature is increased to 55°C and maintained for 60 minutes. Under these relatively mild conditions, bio-scouring and bio-polishing are carried out simultaneously. This innovative process not only simplifies the pre-treatment process but also reduces energy consumption and eliminates one washing cycle.

For light shade dyeing, bleaching with chemicals such as caustic soda and hydrogen peroxide is still required to achieve sufficient whiteness. However, RF838-K(D) can effectively remove pectin and part of the natural impurities from cotton fibers during the pre-treatment stage. At the same time, the neutral cellulase removes surface fuzz, making the fabric cleaner and smoother. As a result, the bleaching load is significantly reduced. During the bleaching stage, only about 70% of the caustic soda and hydrogen peroxide used in the conventional process is required to achieve the same bleaching performance.

By integrating bio-scouring and bio-polishing into a single pre-treatment process, RF838-K(D) effectively reduces the bleaching load and lowers the consumptionof caustic soda and hydrogen peroxide. While maintaining excellent dyeing performance for light-colored fabrics, it also reduces energy consumption, minimizes fiber damage, and provides a more environmentally friendly production process, offering a more sustainable solution for knitting dyeing factory.
