Starch sizing is applied to denim grey fabrics during weaving to enhance yarn strength. As a critical pre-washing process, desizing directly determines the final effects of subsequent whiskering and bio-stone washing. BBT Enzyme Amylase ALCHEMY®A16L features a broad effective temperature range of 60–110℃ with outstanding enzymatic stability and excellent process compatibility. There is an essential difference in mechanism when compared with conventional caustic soda-based chemical desizing: the conventional process relies on strong alkaline agents such as caustic soda to swell and strip starch size on fabric surfaces via physical swelling. Long-term exposure may cause damage to operators’ skin and respiratory tracts. In comparison, amylase is a biological agent that can be naturally biodegraded. It generates a lower pollutant load in wastewater and effectively reduces factories’ pressure on safe production as well as wastewater treatment costs.
Temperature control is a core element of cost management for printing and dyeing mills. Conventional desizing processes usually require continuously elevated temperatures. High-temperature conditions not only increase operational risks in workshops, but also consume large volumes of steam, driving up production energy costs.
