Denim washing mainly consists of four processes: desizing, bio-polishing,abrasion and bleaching. Conventional processes rely heavily on chemical agents such as caustic soda and hydrogen peroxide.It is difficult to precisely control the dosage of chemicals. Excessive dosage tends to damage fabric fibres, resulting in stiff denim and reduced fabric strength. Insufficient dosage leads to incomplete desizing, uneven bleaching, colour variation and poor appearance. Meanwhile, heavy consumption of chemicals generates highly polluted wastewater, raising environmental pressure and production costs.To address these industry challenges, BBT has developed two bio-enzymatic washing systems. Adopting biocatalysis to replace conventional extensive chemical treatment, these solutions effectively cut down chemical consumption.

Process One:Add BBT ENZYME AMYLASE ALCHEMY®A16L during the desizing stage. It decomposes the sizing agents on denim fabric to achieveefficient desizing performance. For denim abrasion, NEF® 2200+, one coated granular cellulase, is applied. Through cellulose hydrolysis, it remove the pillings from the jeans and bring the big grain on the surface of jean and can take the highest contrast abrasion performance. Bleaching is carried out subsequently with cold bleaching enzyme BEW to obtain stable bleaching results, BEW produced by Baico Biotech.

The two bio-enzymatic washing processes thoroughly innovate the conventional washing model. Throughout the process, mild enzymatic reactions replace large amounts of caustic soda and high-concentration hydrogen peroxide, significantly reducing chemical consumption and wastewater discharge, and meeting green production standards.
