A wide variety of denim styles can be seen both in the market and daily life.The diverse styles of denim are closely related to the stone washing process in denim finishing.Stone wash is a process in which denim garments are loaded into washing machines together with pumice stones.It relies on the agitation of the washing machine to drive friction between pumice stones and denim garments, so as to achieve a fading effect on the fabric surface.The pumice stones rub against denim garments.It requires strict control over machine parameters to prevent excessive damage to garments caused by pumice stones.During friction with denim garments, pumice stones abrade not only the clothes but also the inner surface of the washing machine.It will cause damage to the machine and shorten its service life.After the pumice stones finish their abrasive treatment, pumice residue waste will be generated.Additional costs are required for the disposal of waste residues.


Denim fabric is mainly composed of cellulose.The cellulase can hydrolyze the cellulose.Cellulase can weaken the cellulose on the fabric surface, thereby achieving a fading effect on denim cloth.Meanwhile, there are raised cellulose fibrils on the denim surface, which makes these protruding fibers easier to be removed.After treatment with cellulase, the fuzz on the denim surface is reduced, and the fabric gains a softer hand feel.Therefore cellulose replace part or all of the pumice stones.The NEF® 2200+is concentrated neutral cellulase granule for denim stone washing.It can realize premium washing abrasion look and bio-polishing effect.It removes surface fibrils of denim and improves the fabric hand feel.Since indigo dye mainly adheres to the surface of denim, a small amount of indigo pigment will come off during cellulase treatment.Therefore it requires add anti-backing staining agent NP13.The addition of cellulase can reduce the dosage of pumice stones.It helps lower the cost of pumice waste disposal.It reduces friction between pumice stones and equipment, thereby lowering machine wear.Different from stone washing, cellulase treatment consumes less water, which cuts down wastewater treatment costs and reduces overall water consumption.
