During the weaving process, yarns are sized to improve their toughness and prevent breakage. Almost all woven fabrics undergo sizing, which makes desizing a critical step in the pre-treatment of woven fabrics. Knitted fabrics, on the other hand, are subjected to less tension during knitting and can be woven without sizing. Towels are an exception: to form a fluffy loop pile structure, towel yarns require high toughness and therefore must be sized. As a home textile product that comes into direct contact with the skin, the loop pile bulkiness and softness of towels are core indicators determining product quality. Consequently, towel fabrics not only require desizing but also demand a very high degree of desizing completeness.

In the conventional process, towel fabrics are desized by treating with amylase at 70 °C for 40 minutes. BBT has launched an enzyme preparation product, RF838‑W, which contains complex amylase and animproved formulation, enabling more efficient desizing. Using 0.7% o.w.f. RF838‑W and treating at 55 °C for 30 minutes not only completely removes the size but also maximally preserves the loop pile bulkiness and tensile strength, while saving time and energy compared with the conventional process. RF838‑W shows good compatibility stability with these auxiliary chemicals, and unopened products can maintain a shelf life of 2 years when stored in a cool, dry and room warehouse below 27 °C.

In summary, through the process innovation of low temperature (55 °C) and short time (30 min), RF838‑W not only endows towel products with a good desizing effect without huge weight loss of towel. But also significantly reduces energy costs for enterprises while ensuring a high degree of desizing completion. This is not just a change in process parameters; it provides towel manufacturers with a cost‑effective and quality‑assured solution.
