During the pre-treatment process of cotton woven towels, steam is one of the major energy consumption sources in dyeing mills. Whether it is bath heating, bleaching treatment, or reheating after draining and refilling water, a large amount of steam is required. Therefore, reducing repeated heating processes and lowering boiler load has become an important strategy for towel dyeing mills to reduce energy consumption.
In conventional towel pre-treatment processes, after desizing and scouring, the treatment bath contains a large amount of removed impurities, including degraded starch, pectin, waxes, and residual scouring agents. Therefore, the used bath needs to be drained, and fresh water must be added for the subsequent boiling and bleaching treatment. Since the newly added water is at a lower temperature, additional steam is required to heat it to the required bleaching temperature. This not only increases steam consumption but extends the production time.
Developed by BBT, RF838-W Bio-Scouring Enzyme integrates desizing, bio-scouring, and wetting functions into one product. Through its composite enzyme system, RF838-W precisely acts on impurities present on the cotton fiber surface. Among them, amylase efficiently breaks down starch size, while alkaline pectinase selectively degrades pectin and othernatural impurities, converting them into soluble small molecules and releasing them into the treatment bath. After desizing and bio-scouring with RF838-W, most of the sizing materials and natural impurities in the treatment bath have been effectively degraded and transformed by the enzyme system. This reduces the residual impurities that may affect the subsequent boiling process. Therefore, the bath does not need to be drained, and the temperature can be directly increased to 95°C for the subsequent boiling treatment.
Compared with conventional processes, RF838-W eliminates the need for water replacement and repeated heating, allowing the heat energy in the treatment bath to be fully utilized. As a result, it effectively reduces steam consumption and boiler operating load. Reducing steam consumption not only lowers energy costs but also improves equipment utilization and shortens the production cycle. For continuously operating towel dyeing mills, reducing repeated heating processes can decrease boiler operating pressure, minimize energy waste, and improve overall production efficiency.
In addition to reducing steam consumption, RF838-W can also reduce the use of chemicals such as caustic soda and scouring agents, lower wastewater discharge, and help towel dyeing mills achieve more environmentally friendly and sustainable pret-reatment production.
