During the global football gala, the professional team–style football jerseys have ignited fans' purchasing enthusiasm. As equipment for high-intensity, high-confrontation sports, the core functions of football jerseys lie in superior athletic performance, more efficient breath ability and moisture wicking, and a lighter wearing experience. Since mainstream football jerseys are mostly made by knitting, and knitted fabrics do not require sizing before weaving, their pre-treatment mainly centers on scouring, bleaching, de-bleaching, and Bio- polishing. To optimize the pre-treatment process for knitted fabrics, Baico Biotech Company has developed the Bio-scouring enzyme RF838- K(D). The primary task of pre-treatment is to remove the inherently hydrophobic natural impurities from the fibers – the pectin, plant waxes, etc., present in cotton fibers, which act as naturalbarriers to moisture absorption and wicking. The modified pectinase in RF838- K(D) works at 55 °C for 60 minutes to efficiently decompose pectin, exposing more hydrophilic groups on the fibers and thus significantly improving their wettability. At the same time, the neutral cellulase in the formulation simultaneously performs Bio- polishing on the fabric, skillfully removing fine surface pillings and making the fabric surface smooth and soft. After treatment with RF838- K(D), the fabric's absorbency can reach over 10 cm in 5 minutes; the Bio- polishing enhances the skin-friendliness and comfort of the sportswear, while also paving the way for uniform penetration and firm bonding of subsequent finishing agents.
Subsequently, bleaching is carried out at 95 °C, where high-temperature scouring simultaneously removes impurities such as plant waxes, improving the whiteness and cleanliness of the fabric while deeply “purifying” the fiber surface. Since Bio-scouring with RF838- K(D) achieves better scouring results than chemical scouring, the consumption of hydrogen peroxide and caustic soda in bleaching can be reduced,thus mitigating chemical damage to the fibers and obtaining an optimal surface state.
In summary, although the pre-treatment process using RF838- K(D) Bio-scouring enzyme does not by itself directly endow the fabric with top- grade unidirectional moisture transport properties, this enzyme preparation maximally enhances the fabric's hydrophilicity and cleanliness, laying a solid foundation for the full performance of subsequent moisture- wicking finishing agents. The improved wicking effect and smoothness of the fabric processed by this technology directly guarantee the breath ability, moisture- wicking efficiency, and skin-friendliness of the final jerseys, while the uniform and clean fiber surface ensures firm adhesion of functional finishes, allowing the jerseys to maintain stable athletic performance after repeated wearing and washing. It is precisely this optimization and refinement of the basic process that significantly improves the quality of finished garments, serving as a key entry point for factories to stabilize production processes, enhance yield, and reduce overall costs.
