The textile dyeing and finishing industry encompasses two main production routes – overflow dyeing and continuous dyeing. Each has its own suitable applications: overflow dyeing is ideal for knitted fabrics, synthetic fibers, stretch materials, and small-to- medium batch orders, while the Hot padding and cold dome is best suited for conventional woven cotton/linen fabrics and large- volume production. Towel, as a specific knitting product, can be dyed either on a continous steam box process for high- efficiency bulk production or in an overflow machine to achieve a softer, fluffier handle.
Pre-treatment on the hot padding and cold dome line is a crucial part of the continuous dyeing process, responsible for desizing, scouring, and bleaching before dyeing. The conventional hot padding and cold dome line pre-treatment involves padding the singed fabric through a bath containing amylase, scouring agents andwetting agents at 70 °C for 3 minutes to desize, followed by room-temperature batching 12-24hours. The fabric is then padded again through a bath containing caustic soda and scouring agents, steamed at 85 °C for 25 minutes to fully swell, solubilise and decompose impurities such as cotton seed hulls, pectins and plant waxes. Finally, the fabric is bleached with a bath of caustic soda, hydrogen peroxide, stabilisers and wetting agents. This multi-step process relies heavily on harsh chemicals; the high alkali concentration accelerates cellulose decomposition and increases the burden on wastewater treatment.
To address these issues, BBT has developed RF838- W, a multi-functional Bio-scouring enzyme that integrates both desizing and scouring functions, offering a green and highly efficient solution for long- pad pre-treatment. In this improved process, the singed fabric is padded through a bath containing RF838- W at 60 °C tank ,after that make the roll and rotation for 5-12hours in room temperature , then steamed at 85 °C for 25 minutes for bleaching in continuous machine. The synergistic action of amylase and pectinase in RF838- W effectively removes size, seed hulls, pectins and plantwaxes.RF838-W shortens the pre-treatment sequence, operates under mild conditions, and offers high efficiency and excellent specificity. The enzymatic treatment causes virtually no damage to cotton fibres, while it efficiently degrades both starch- based sizes and PVA sizes, achieving a superior desizing result. Moreover, the enzyme is naturally biodegradable, significantly reducing the COD and alkalinity of the effluent, thus alleviating the pressure on wastewater treatment.
In summary, green Bio- enzyme technologies represented by BBT’s RF838- W Bio-scouring enzyme are expected to further drive the transformation of the textile dyeing and finishing industry towards a resource-saving and environmentally friendly direction, providing solid technical support for sustainable development in the sector.
