During the denim weaving stage, warp yarns of denim are sized to reduce the friction coefficient of yarns and minimize yarn breakage on looms.The sizing improves the production efficiency of denim.Four major types of size materials commonly used in the industry are starch, modified starch, polyacrylate and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA).Although starch slurry can optimize weaving conditions, residual size will lead to a range of dyeing defects.For exemple,the foors colour of denim is unstaditity.It causes inconsistent base shade of denim, severe staining on pocket fabrics, sewing threads and embroidery threads. After over-dyeing, uneven size spots with irregular shapes and varying depths easily appear on the fabric surface, which seriously interferes with subsequent dyeing processes.Therefore, to achieve optimal dyeing results for denim, the size must be removed via desizing processes.

There are various treatment methods that can remove starch slurry form denim.First of all,The denimare desized by hot water.This processes is only applicable to denim products with low desizing requirements.The second method uses soda ash 、anti-staining agents and penetrant oil to remove starch slurry.At present, the more eco-friendly new technology utilizes desizing enzymes.

Because biological amylase have the advantage of environmentally friendly and low fiber damage.Bio-desizing enzymes are becoming increasingly popular.The Alchemy®A16L are liquid and high concentrated amylase that are producted by BBT. It needs to be used together with anti-back staining agent NP 13 with 60 ℃ at 10 minutes. It can remove the starch slurry.The system don't need to add soda ash.It can reduce the chemical consumption.The conventional alkaline desizing corrodes fibers and reduces the tensile strength of denim fabrics.Biology enzyme can break down starch slurry and improving the overall quality of denim fabrics.The amylase application in textile dyeing ensures the wettability. It enables denim to fully absorb dyes and facilitates uniform coloration.Desizing enzymes can be applied at lower temperatures, cutting energyconsumption.
