Absorbency is a core indicator that characterizes the wetting performance, dyeing process ability, and wearing comfort of textiles. From the perspective of dyeing, absorbency determines the affinity of fibers toward aqueous solutions and dyes. Only fabrics with good absorbency can achieve uniform dye penetration and firm color fixation during dyeing. From the perspective of wearing experience, good absorbency can quickly wick away sweat from the human body and promote evaporation, significantly enhancing the fabric's comfort.

However, in actual production, the inherent absorbency of fabrics is often suppressed by hydrophobic impurities on the fiber surface. The towel fabric surface is coated with substantial amounts of sizing agents, pectin, plant wax, lignin, and mine oil, forming a hydrophobic barrier on the fiber surface that significantly reduces both capillary effect and absorbency.

Pre-treatment for dyeing typically includes singeing, desizing, and scouring. Singeing removes surface fuzzmainly to improve fabric smoothness and has no direct effect on the fiber's intrinsic absorbency. The key steps that truly determine absorbency are desizing and scouring. Desizing is the critical stage—once the size is completely removed, the fiber pores are fully opened, greatly improving both absorbency and capillary effect.

In conventional processes, desizing is carried out using amylase at 70 °C for 40 minutes, followed by scouring agents, wetting agents, degreasers, and caustic soda. To achieve better desizing and scouring results, operators tend to increase chemical dosages, but excessive chemicals can cause irreversible damage to the fibers, affecting both fabric hand feel and strength.

Addressing this industry pain point, BBT has developed the RF838-W, which offers a superior solution. With its optimized formulation, RF838-W enables amylase to perform effective desizing at just 55 °C, achieving a Tegewa rating of 8, indicating that the starch size has been essentially removed. Moreover, the inclusion of modified pectinase in RF838-W gently yet efficiently breaks down pectin and other impurities, eliminating the hydrophobic barrier at its source. Fabricstreated with RF838-W demonstrate a capillary effect that responds within 1 second and exhibit excellent absorbency.

Therefore, RF838-W simultaneously accomplishes desizing and impurity removal under mild conditions, effectively replacing the multi-step, high-chemical, high-energy conventional 

pre-treatment process. This approach avoids the fiber structural damage caused by harsh alkali and high-temperature treatments, preserving the fabric's original mechanical properties. At the same time, it significantly enhances capillary effect and overall absorbency, providing a solid pre-treatment foundation for achieving high levelness and high colorfastness in subsequent dyeing operations.
