Towels are one of the essential daily necessities and are among the few knitted fabrics that require sizing to enhance yarn toughness. To achieve ideal dyeing results, desizing prior to dyeing is crucial. Compared to dark-colored towels, consumers generally prefer light-colored ones. However, light colors are extremely sensitive to uneven dyeing; even trace amounts of sizing residue can cause visible defects such as color stains, white specks, or uneven shade on the fabric surface. Therefore, the pre-treatment process for light-colored towels demands a higher level of desizing tegawa level.

To meet this high requirement, some textile mills may have concerns about the desizing performance of RF838-W at 55°C. In response, BBT has developed a new biological solution—the combined use of BBT amylase JFA16 and Bio-scouring enzyme RF838-K. Baico Biotech (BBT) is textile Enzyme and household detergent enzyme manufacturer in China.

At room temperature, JFA16 is first added, and the bath is heated to 70°C for a 20-minute desizing treatment, leveraging the high temperature to fully activate the amylase and ensure thorough desizing. After the bath cools down to 55°C, RF838-K is added for a 30-minute scouring treatment, effectively removing natural impurities such as pectin and waxes under mild conditions. The entire process requires no intermediate draining. After scouring, caustic soda, hydrogen peroxide, and peroxide stabilizer are added, and the bath is heated to 95°C to commence bleaching—resulting in a compact and efficient workflow.

In addition, BBT offers another option—the combined use of amylase JFA16 and Bio-scouring enzyme RF838-K(D). The initial desizing stage is the same as above, with the difference being that RF838-K(D) is used in the scouring stage. This product combines scouring and polishing function, enabling a one-bath scouring and polishing treatment with a processing time of 60 minutes. Similarly, no intermediate draining is required; caustic soda, hydrogen peroxide, and peroxide stabilizer are added to proceed directly to bleaching.

Both combined solutions, while maintaining the green advantages of a short process flow and eliminating intermediate wastewater discharge, employ a two-stage "medium-temperature desizing + low-temperature scouring" approach. This design fully capitalizes on the high-efficiency desizing capability of amylase at 70°C while preserving the scouring and polishing performance of the Bio-scouring enzymes at 55°C. In addition to ensuring desizing cleanliness, the treated fabrics exhibit a smoother surface and superior absorbency, making them particularly suitable for high-end light-colored towel products that demand exceptional fabric quality.
