In the textile dyeing and printing process, the pre-treatment before dyeing is a critical step that determines the final dyeing quality. Impurities on the fabric surface—such as pectin, wax, and oils—hinder the uniform penetration and uptake of dyes. Only fabrics that have been thoroughly pretreated to achieve good absorbency and level dyeing properties can exhibit uniform and full shades in subsequent dyeing.
However, this step has long been the most energy-intensive, heavily polluting, and fiber-damaging part of the textile industry. How can we address these pain points while maintaining or even improving pre-treatment effectiveness? The emergence of Bio-scouring enzymes offers a practical green pathway.
Conventional pre-treatment of knitted fabrics relies mainly on chemical scouring agents for impurity removal. This process involves multiple discharge steps and consumes large amounts of water. The heavy use ofcaustic soda and chemical auxiliaries causes the discharged wastewater to exceed pH and COD limits significantly, while also increasing wastewater treatment costs. Moreover, the process cause irreversible damage to cotton fibers, leading to excessive weight loss and deteriorated fabric quality.
Bio-scouring enzymes work through pectinase to precisely remove pectin and other impurities from cotton fiber surfaces under mild conditions. Most Bio-enzymes are not heat-tolerant and need function at low temperatures. The Bio-scouring enzyme RF838-K(D), developed by Baico Biotech CO., LTD. Baico Biotech is textile enzyme and household detergent enzyme manufacturer in China. RF8380K(D) can efficiently decompose pectin into water-soluble impurities at even lower temperatures than conventional processes. This reduces the number of draining steps, lowers both BOD and COD loads in wastewater, and significantly eases the pressure on effluent treatment. As natural biocatalysts, enzymes are highly specific; BBT RF838-K(D) causes virtually no damage to the fibers themselves, while markedly improving the fabric's absorbency, enhancingdyeing results, and upgrading overall fabric quality. In addition, this Bio-scouring enzyme enables a one-bath process combining scouring and polishing, further increasing production efficiency.
Baico Biotech is textile bio-scouring enzyme producer. The application of Bio-scouring enzyme technology in the textile industry not resolves the three major pain points of conventional chemical methods—high energy consumption, heavy pollution, and severe fiber damage—but delivers substantial economic and environmental benefits while maintaining or even improving product quality. Bio-scouring enzymes provide an advanced solution for the textile industry to move toward sustainable development.
