Towels are an indispensable part of daily hygiene. When consumers choose towels, their eyes are first drawn to color and surface neatness—towels with even dyeing and neat loops naturally win greater favor. However, uneven dyeing does more than make a towel look cheap and messy; it also signals irreversible damage to the fiber structure, leading to reduced absorbency, shortened service life, and even color fading during use—all of which severely undermine consumer trust.

One critical cause of uneven dyeing is improper pre-treatment before dyeing. Cotton fibers are naturally coated with hydrophobic impurities such as pectin, plant wax, and slurry left on yarns during weaving. In conventional pre-treatment, these impurities and sizes must be removed by high-temperature scouring with amylase, scouring agents, wetting agents, and caustic soda to improve whiteness and absorbency. But the high temperature and strong alkali, while removing impurities,also damage the fiber backbone, destroying the structure in some areas. As a result, subsequent dye molecules cannot be uniformly adsorbed and fixed, leading to uneven dyeing.
